Rhythm in Blues Club |
Rhythms in
Blue is Roadhaven Resort's 40-50 member
mixed chorus
where participants
enjoy four-part harmony in a whole range of
music genre, including Broadway musicals,
popular songs that have stood the test of
time, gospel, folk and jazz. This is a place
to enjoy music together and to build good
friendships at the same time. Choir
experience is less important than a real
love for music and a desire to learn to sing
in harmony. Sectional practices are made
available to assist newcomers to learn along
with experienced singers.
Traditionally, Rhythms in Blue presents and
leads in a Christmas concert sing-a-long
with Karaoke in the park. In 2010 they will
take their turn to host the SENIOR SING (a
combination of three choral groups in the
East Valley) who perform three songs each
and all three chorus' join in singing three
songs together. It is quite a sound with
nearly 100 voices. There is a windup Spring
Concert in March presented at Roadhaven by
the Chorus as well.
There is a place for instrumentalists to
shine in accompanying the chorus, depending
on the kind of music being offered. For
example, instrumentalists have assisted in
songs with drums, harmonica and trumpet.
There is a drum set available in the park
for anyone
interested in helping.
So pack up your black trousers/skirts and
shoes and be prepared to bring, buy or
borrow a formal white tuxedo shirt to show
off the blue bow tie provided by the
Chorus!. Watch for posters or the monthly
newsletter to join us when you arrive at
Roadhaven. Resort. The first rehearsals will
be in early November. Harriett Lagerlof, our
enthusiastic director, will be glad to have
you in the R in B. You will enjoy it so much
that you will want to continue to make music
