Residents run interest clubs - choir, sketching, hiking, lapidary -to name a few. It is close to many hiking trails and local and national parks, such as Lost Dutchman’s Park, Superstition Mountain and Tonto National Forest and to other places of interest such as the Boyce Thompson Arboretum, and Tortilla Flats. The Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam and Sedona are within a half-day’s drive. Mexico is also just a few hours away. An excellent supermarket (Fry’s) and other retail amenities are within walking distance. Clinics (for medical/dental care) are also close by.
