ARIZONA MONSOONS - TIPS AND LINKS
Arizona Monsoon season typically runs from mid-June through September. During this time, we may experience thunderstorms, dust storms, flash floods, and other weather hazards.
While we have been fortunate to avoid significant damage from monsoons, it is always good to be prepared and stay safe. Here are some tips to help you enjoy the summer without any worries:
- Check the weather forecast regularly and sign up for alerts from the city of Apache Junction. They will notify you of any severe weather warnings or road closures in the area.
- Secure any loose items around your home or RV, such as patio furniture, umbrellas, or decorations. They could become flying debris in strong winds or damage your property.
- Avoid driving or walking through flooded roads or washes. The water may be deeper or faster than it looks and could sweep you or your vehicle away. Turn around, don’t drown!
- Stay indoors during thunderstorms and dust storms or haboobs. If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or a hard-topped vehicle. Avoid trees, power lines, metal objects, or open fields.
BE PREPARED!Â
Have an emergency kit with essentials such as water, food, a flashlight, batteries, a radio, a first aid kit, and medications. You never know when you might lose power or access to services.
For those of you currently at Roadhaven, we hope you have a wonderful summer here and enjoy the beauty of the monsoon season. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us.
