Switch to Paperless Statements and Help Us Save $1,500 a Year!

Did you know that the price of stamps is increasing? This means sending out paper HOA statements will cost the Resort over $1,500 every year and that cost will likely continue to rise due to increasing postage prices. One simple way you can help reduce expenses and make your life easier is by signing up for Paperless Statements using the form below.

Reminder for Property Caretakers

With the summer rain, we’re seeing more weed violations around the resort.

Please make sure your property caretaker is keeping your space weed-free and Roadhaven looking great!

If you have questions, email Dick Rollins: roadhavencompliance@roadhaven.com.

Please Update Your Rental Listing

We have over 50 rentals listed on the Roadhaven website.
To help potential renters with a better online experience and keep our community looking great, please update your listing or remove it if it is no longer available for rent.

MONSOON SEASON IS HERE

FEATURED ARTICLE

If you’re new to Arizona or spending your first summer in Apache Junction, you may be wondering what monsoon season is all about. Unlike other parts of the country, Arizona’s monsoon season typically arrives between June 15 and September 30, bringing sudden thunderstorms, high winds, lightning, and heavy downpours. These storms can be quick but intense, often dropping a significant amount of rain in a short time.

in memory of

Paul Fredrick Sands was born September 2, 1934, in Seattle Washington, where he was raised with his younger sister, Sharon, by parents Percy and Edna Sands. Paul developed his love of the Pacific Northwest early as an Eagle Scout, a wooden boat builder, and a mountain fire lookout. He was one of the original members of the REI Coop, and a Seattle Mountaineer. Paul graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952, and later completed his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Washington.

Paul met Gloria Pauline Taylor in 1957, and they were married in 1958. They welcomed Kimberly Pauline in 1959, and Yvonne Teresa in 1962. Paul had spent his younger years on solo mountain and water adventures. And soon, these became adventures with his family of four. Summers were filled with hiking, camping, and boating. Paul, Gloria, and their girls explored the Cascade Mountains, and spent weeks boating through the San Juan Islands. Winters were spent on family ski trips.

After many years working as an engineer for The Boeing Company, Paul took a position with the US Bureau of Mines in 1975 and moved the family to Spokane Washington. He retired in 1993, and Paul and Gloria began new adventures. They took frequent trips to Europe, and spent extended periods in Taxco, Mexico. Paul acquired his private pilot’s license; he and Gloria flew to destinations throughout North America including the Arctic Circle and Central America. They became snowbirds, splitting their time at home between Apache Junction Arizona and Lopez Island Washington.

Through their many interests and travels, Paul and Gloria made lifelong friends. After 56 years of marriage, Gloria passed away in 2015. Paul maintained these friendships through communications and visits and continued his snowbird lifestyle. He sailed through the San Juan Islands on his beloved boat and enjoyed the warm winters in Arizona. As always, Gloria remained the love of his life.

Paul is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, four grandchildren and spouses, and seven great grandchildren. We find comfort in the joy of loving Paul and knowing that his was a life well-lived.
