Therapy Pool

THERAPY POOL CLOSED
The therapy pool will be temporarily closed for maintenance while the railings are sent for powder coating to address rust caused by the salt and chlorine in the sanitation system. This rust has stained the PebbleTec surface, and the powder coating will help prevent further damage. We appreciate your patience during this necessary work and expect to have the railings back by the end of next week. We’ll keep you updated on the progress.

COSTCO CARD
Did you know you can check out and use the Roadhaven Costco card? The Roadhaven Costco card is now a transferable card that does not require a photo at entry. The card will likely be scanned at entry and a transferable number will appear. If you experience any issues, please go to the Costco customer service desk.

Water Bill Refund

We’re pleased to share some great news about last year’s water billing issue. After a detailed review and discussions with the Apache Junction Water District, we have received a refund of $139,154.89 due to overcharges on our water bills.

Although we didn’t receive a refund for the expenses related to locating the water leak, the extensive testing and review revealed additional issues that could have led to costly repairs if left unaddressed. By identifying and tackling these problems early, we’ve likely saved our Roadhaven community from significant future expenses.

During the last fiscal year, the funds used to cover the unusually high water bills were drawn from our operating savings. This allowed us to manage the added costs without interrupting the community’s operations. Now that we’ve received the refund, the funds will be returned to the operating savings account.

Our commitment to careful financial planning has proven to be a solid foundation for our community. Our operating savings account is an important safety net for unforeseen expenses—like these water bill overcharges—that fall outside our regular operating budget. Having these reserves ensures we can handle unexpected costs while maintaining the quality of services and amenities we all enjoy.

Your continued support is very much appreciated. Your trust in us allows us to manage situations like these effectively. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Main Office or chat with Trish Hoagland at Coffee Talk, starting Tuesday, Nov. 05.

Dear Roadie,
There are two recycle bins near the pet parks which are not filled to capacity. Why would somebody throw empty boxes in the roll off dumpster when the recycle bins are available?
Sincerely, Reclaiming

Dear Reclaiming,
Thank you for raising this concern. Roadhaven is committed to responsible waste management and recycling. I also benefit from the recycling bins. I’ve been known to reuse old bits I find on the top of the recycling bins to build my nest out. I love recycling!

It’s disheartening to see empty boxes in the roll-off dumpster near the pet parks when we have nearby recycling bins available. Why would someone do that? Maybe they don’t know that we have recycling bins, or maybe they simply don’t care. What a bummer!

The recycling is in front of the Dog Park for small dogs.
It’s also critical to break down your cardboard boxes so others can fit their materials in as well.

For a full list of items that can and cannot be recycled, please read this article: Roadhaven Resorts Recycling Bins Are Back.

Your dedication to our community’s cleanliness and environmental stewardship is greatly appreciated at Roadhaven.

Fly high! – Roadie.

Dear Roadie,
Questions on volunteering. When you volunteer for certain committees you have to fill out the form and provide your education, work history and be interviewed by Board liaisons. That process is like a job interview. Could this be why people more people don’t volunteer?

We have volunteered for garden shed, street sweeping etc and never got a call back or been told they have enough volunteers. Something is wrong with the process if we are turning away volunteers.

Sincerely, Ann Ally

Dear  Ann,
Volunteering can be challenging. Oftentimes Roadhaven sees a large rush of residents with good intentions signing up only to not show up or have the availability needed. My point is, there are challenges on both sides when it comes to volunteering. Some volunteer roles, like serving on committees do require specific skills and experiences based on the committee’s function. Yes, applying for some committees can be similar to applying for a professional job, which sets the committee application process apart from other volunteer roles like gardening.

For instance, the Finance Committee collaborates with the Board on budget-related matters and provides recommendations, requiring a skill set that isn’t necessary for the Library Committee or volunteering to plant flowers. Similarly, if a resident volunteered to drive the street sweeper and their Driver’s License was expired, they wouldn’t be eligible for that role. Your willingness to volunteer is greatly appreciated. It’s unfortunate that you haven’t received a response in the past. I am sorry for that. I’ll bring this to Roadhaven’s attention and request improved communication from residents overseeing volunteer opportunities.

There’s an old saying in my family, “The early bird catches the worm”. I’d recommend signing up as early as possible since some volunteer positions may get filled quickly. It might also be helpful to offer your name as a backup, as sometimes volunteers may not be able to fulfill their commitments. I know there have been times when the right number of volunteers could not be found so be sure to keep an eye out and don’t hesitate to follow up.

Remember, Roadhaven offers a variety of Clubs and Groups for residents to join. Some of these groups engage in volunteer work and don’t seem to limit the number of participants. You might want to consider joining groups like Mats for the Homeless or Time-Out.

Thank you for your efforts, don’t give up. Be sure to check the Volunteers and Committee pages of roadhaven.com
