Palm Tree Trimming Coming Soon
Palm trimming is tentatively set to begin on June 09.
Integrated Landscape Management will be doing the work.
You may see two boom lifts delivered to Roadhaven a few days before trimming starts. Just like in past years, the boom trucks may be parked along Chippewa Blvd while the work is happening.
Thanks for your patience as we keep Roadhaven looking great!
Entrance Gate Update, Pavement Repairs Scheduled
Now that the gas leak repairs are finished, pavement work is scheduled from June 16 to June 20 by The Arizona Pipeline Company. During this time, the westbound entrance gate at Idaho Rd. will be closed.
All vehicles should use the exit gate to enter and leave the community. Our security team will be on site, and volunteers will be helping with traffic to keep things running smoothly. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
Quick Q and A from the Board - Financial Reviews and Audits
During last season’s resident meetings, a common question came up, Do outside professionals review or audit our finances?
They do!
Here’s how it works:
Every two years, we contract with an external auditing firm to do a full audit.
The years in between there is an outside financial review.
This past year, the outside review was completed and we’re happy to say it went very well.
The review showed that our financial practices are strong and are being handled the right way.
If you’d like to see the full report, you can find it in the HOA portal.
Log in and open the following folders: Documents>> Audit Reports>> Audit Report. The file is titled, “2023 Financial Review”.
Thank you for staying involved and be sure to check out the full report when you can.

Thank You, Roadhaven Patrol!
We’ve seen your kind words on social media, and we want to say thank you for sharing them!
Chauna, Paula, and the entire Roadhaven Patrol team work hard every day to help keep our community safe and cared for, from early morning rounds to late-night calls. Your words of appreciation mean a lot to the team. We’re lucky to have them, and lucky to have you as part of this caring community!

SUMMERTIME A/C IN REC HALL
Dear Roadie,
I’ve noticed the Rec Hall is open for residents this summer and was wondering why the HOA is cooling the building when we’re a seasonal resort?
Sincerely, Wandering A. Bout
Dear Wandering,
Good question and great observation!
The Rec Hall needs to be cooled during the summer months to protect both the hardwood floors and AV equipment. Both are sensitive to heat and humidity, much like my aunt’s perm!
The Security Patrol Office also pulls its cooled air from the same system, so keeping the AC running helps our team stay safe and comfortable too.
Because the Rec Hall is already being cooled, Roadhaven has allowed limited resident access as a nice summer option since other Roadhaven buildings are closed or have reduced hours.
If you and your flock want to spread your wings and use the space, just let the Main Office know your date and times so Security can stay in the loop and keep the area secure after.
See ya around!

in memory of
Paul Fredrick Sands was born September 2, 1934, in Seattle Washington, where he was raised with his younger sister, Sharon, by parents Percy and Edna Sands. Paul developed his love of the Pacific Northwest early as an Eagle Scout, a wooden boat builder, and a mountain fire lookout. He was one of the original members of the REI Coop, and a Seattle Mountaineer. Paul graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952, and later completed his Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Washington.
Paul met Gloria Pauline Taylor in 1957, and they were married in 1958. They welcomed Kimberly Pauline in 1959, and Yvonne Teresa in 1962. Paul had spent his younger years on solo mountain and water adventures. And soon, these became adventures with his family of four. Summers were filled with hiking, camping, and boating. Paul, Gloria, and their girls explored the Cascade Mountains, and spent weeks boating through the San Juan Islands. Winters were spent on family ski trips.
After many years working as an engineer for The Boeing Company, Paul took a position with the US Bureau of Mines in 1975 and moved the family to Spokane Washington. He retired in 1993, and Paul and Gloria began new adventures. They took frequent trips to Europe, and spent extended periods in Taxco, Mexico. Paul acquired his private pilot’s license; he and Gloria flew to destinations throughout North America including the Arctic Circle and Central America. They became snowbirds, splitting their time at home between Apache Junction Arizona and Lopez Island Washington.

Through their many interests and travels, Paul and Gloria made lifelong friends. After 56 years of marriage, Gloria passed away in 2015. Paul maintained these friendships through communications and visits and continued his snowbird lifestyle. He sailed through the San Juan Islands on his beloved boat and enjoyed the warm winters in Arizona. As always, Gloria remained the love of his life.
Paul is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, four grandchildren and spouses, and seven great grandchildren. We find comfort in the joy of loving Paul and knowing that his was a life well-lived.
