RESIDENT NEWSLETTER
PUBLISHED ON FRI. FEBRUARY 28, 2025
HAPPY FRIDAY, ROADHAVEN
We hope you’re making the most of the beautiful weather! This time of year in Arizona is truly special, particularly for us who are Roadies. This weekend we will hold our Annual Golf Fundraiser Tournament.
To help us maintain the high standards of Roadhaven, please remember not to overfill the dumpsters or bring drinks into the pools, as these actions result in unnecessary costs for the association. Additionally, we want to bring your attention to an important scam alert.
There’s plenty to catch up on, so let’s dive into this week’s newsletter.
SCAM ALERT
Important Notice: Beware of Fake Emails Impersonating Board Members
We want to alert all residents of an increase in fraudulent emails that impersonate Roadhaven Board members. These emails may appear legitimate but are designed to deceive recipients into making unauthorized payments or providing sensitive information.
Please remember that Roadhaven Staff, Management, Committee, or Board members will never ask you to send wire transfers, purchase gift cards, or make any other form of payment.
If you receive a suspicious message requesting financial transactions or personal details, do not respond, click any links, or open/download attachments.
Instead, report it immediately to the Main Office for verification.
Your security is important to us. Stay vigilant and always verify the authenticity of any unexpected requests.
Thank you,
Roadhaven Management

COSTLY ACTIONS
Due to an overloaded 8-yard dumpster, we received another email warning with a $225 charge from Waste Management. Not only are overfills a safety risk for their drivers, they also create messes that look and smell unpleasant for our community.
All residents can do their part to help us cut these fees:
- Find other dumpsters or wait to add more if the amount of trash is getting too close to container lids that we would be unable to close them securely.
- Do NOT stack trash on top of closed lids or outside the dumpsters – these will also incur fees.

We had to shut down our Phase II Spa because someone put alcohol beverages in it during the weekend, which affected pool chemicals and water.
This is costly in both time and repair expenses.
Do NOT bring beverages into our pools.
We located three leaks so far in our Phase I Indoor Therapy Pool. It will remain closed for the remainder of the season as we conduct more tests until March 10. Results will determine when we are able to reopen the pool. Thank you for understanding and patience.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We invite everyone to attend our next Town Hall on Thursday, March 6 at 7pm in the Rec Hall.

GOLF UPDATES
There will be no standing tee times on the following dates; contact our Golf Shop to reschedule:
- Tuesday, March 4 & Wednesday, March 5 (Par Tee Girls Club Tournament)
- Tuesday, March 11 & Thursday, March 13 (Men’s Golf League Club Tournament)
Our Golf Course is very busy this time of year! Last-minute tee times are getting harder to find, so try to book yours a day or two in advance to get the time you want.
To help us stay on schedule, please have your whole group check in at the Golf Shop at least 10 minutes before your tee time. If you need to pay or rent equipment, arrive even earlier. If you’re ready and checked in, we might even get you out a little early!
Remember to play “ready golf.” Tee times are set every 7–8 minutes, and a group of four should finish 9 holes in about an hour. We want everyone to enjoy the course, so please keep the game moving. Our volunteer Marshals are here to help with that.
Wear your ID badge at all times.
If you’re golfing after hours, please use the honor system. Members, fill out a slip; non-members, place payment in an envelope. Both go into the slot in the Golf Shop door. It’s important for us to track all rounds played as it is required by the State of Arizona for all golf courses. Thank you for helping us keep the course running smoothly!

IN MEMORIAM

Cardell W Smith slipped peacefully into eternity on the evening of February 18, 2025, in Apache Junction, Arizona, surrounded by the unwavering love of his wife, Linn, and his devoted family. Born on February 10, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Norris Smith and Roma Gibbs Smith, Cardell lived a life that touched countless hearts over his 85 years.
For six decades, Cardell poured his heart into uplifting others. He taught countless individuals how to harness their minds and bodies to unlock their potential and discover authentic happiness. His passion extended to nurturing relationships and guiding couples to forge deeper, stronger bonds—an impact that rippled through lives far and wide.
In his later years, Cardell savored life’s quiet joys. He could be found poolside soaking in the sun, fine-tuning his golf swing with a grin, or transforming raw materials into breathtaking ceramic masterpieces. To those who knew him, he was a man who embraced every twist and triumph of life with open arms. As his daughter-in-law Mindy once put it, he was a soul without guile—pure, genuine, and utterly himself.
Cardell had an extraordinary knack for connection. He’d strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, delighting in their stories and lighting up the room with his boundless enthusiasm. That infectious zest, paired with his gentle kindness, made him unforgettable. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit endures in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
His marriage to Linn was a rare and radiant love story—marked by joy, respect, and a tenderness that only grew richer over time. To anyone who witnessed them together, their mutual adoration was unmistakable, a quiet testament to a bond most could only aspire to.
Cardell leaves behind his cherished wife, Linn, and his five children: Brett (Shelley), Nicole, Chris (Mindy), Alexander, and Tim (Amber). He is also survived by his sisters, Brenda Williams and Tamera Allred. His legacy lives on in ten beloved grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each a carrier of his boundless love, kindness, and generosity.
